International Football Center
The requirement for the Xi’an International Football Center was a stadium to be completed for Asia Games 2023, with a masterplan and programs that complete a new CBD axis in the western district of Xi’an. The design proposes a new way of developing a stadium district, balancing needs of the stadium with the future needs of the community, aiming to create a vibrant district that can thrive 24hours a day and 365 days a year, long after the Asia Games are over. Inspired by the historic center of Xi’an and its iconic City Wall, a greenbelt wall wraps around the stadium zone and its functions, acting as a threshold and gate. Wellbeing and leisure become the key themes of the district, connecting, and invading the various architectural and urban elements, creating a strong and healthy identity around the stadium, and the framework for a new way of life.
