La ville nouvelle de Yennenga s’insère au coeur du grand paysage burkinabé, caractérisé par une vaste steppe plane dont la végétation s’intensifie selon les saisons sèche ou humide, et ponctuée çà et là de villages traditionnels. Son nom rend hommage à la princesse Yennenga, figure historique et fondatrice du royaume Moogo, rassemblant les peuples Mossis, dans l’actuel Burkina Faso.

Le projet de centre-ville, construit autour d’une coulée verte, s’inscrit résolument dans l’objectif de ceinture verte du Grand Ouaga. Une place centrale est donnée à la végétation pour ne pas perdre de vue les racines du lieu et son genius loci. Ainsi, la proposition s’attache à ce que l’ensemble des espaces paysagers reflète un caractère endémique et fractal, afin de conserver toute la force de caractère du site. La topographie et les collines existantes sont préservées et mises en valeur. Cela permet d’accentuer les «failles» végétales et de profiter des points hauts du site comme éléments paysagers fondamentaux.

Une ville attractive La ville nouvelle de Yennenga participe à l’amélioration des conditions de vie des Burkinabè, et propose des manières d’habiter et de travailler diverses et variées adaptées aux enjeux du monde contemporain et aux évolutions sociales et sociétales. Chaque programme développé est pensé de manière à répondre aux besoins et souhaits des populations et des usagers futurs du site, en complément et en lien avec les activités développées aux alentours, notamment sur Ouagadougou. Une mixité heureuse et vertueuse Yennenga sera une ville possédant toutes les aménités nécessaires, des activités dynamiques, une effervescence culturelle, mais aussi des logements spacieux et confortables, qui côtoient les centres d’affaires et administratifs, dans une mixité programmatique et sociale heureuse et vertueuse.

It was decided to enter the competition for two areas, the “victory quarter” and “the main boulevard, its Yennenga and solidarity spaces, and its urban park”, with the aim of offering CGE Immobilier an overall vision that was ambitious, consistent and harmonious for the entire Yennenga town centre.

The town-centre project, which is built around a green axis, is firmly in line with the Grand Ouaga green-belt objective. A central place is given to the vegetation so as not to lose sight of the roots of the location and its genius loci. Thus, the proposal focuses on all the landscaped areas, reflecting an endemic and fractal character in order to preserve all of the site’s strength of character. The existing topography and hills are both preserved and enhanced. This makes it possible to accentuate the “faults” of the plants and to take advantage of the site’s high points, using them as fundamental components of the landscape.

The new town of Yennenga contributes towards the improvement of the living conditions of the Burkina residents, offering ways of living and working that are diverse and varied yet adapted to the challenges of the contemporary world, as well as to social and societal changes. Each part of the project is designed to meet the needs and wishes of the population and of future users of the site, in addition to and in connection with the activities developed around them, particularly in Ouagadougou.

Yennenga will be a town that will have all the amenities, dynamic activities and cultural excitement necessary, yet also coming with spacious and comfortable accommodation, which will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the business and administrative centres, creating a functional mix that is socially happy and virtuous.
